The Lakeland Cancer Center project is a two-Story, 31,500 square foot cancer treatment center. The civil engineering on the project was designed to sustainably and efficiently support the building program needs.

The sitework improvements included an efficient surface parking lot layout, new and relocated utility feeds, Low Impact Development stormwater quality swales, a Healing Garden, a green roof system, sidewalks and a native landscaping design to help integrate the exterior and interior spaces of the building.

Several sustainable sitework design measures were utilized including full cut-off site lighting fixtures, water efficient irrigation system design, which included drip irrigation and climate control sensors, bicycle storage and shower facilities for building employees, storm water quality treatment swales, a green roof tray system to reduce heating and cooling loads as well as stormwater runoff.

The end result was a project with sustainable sitework which help to create a healing environment and merge the benefits of nature with a state of the art cancer treatment facility.
